The Light of a Child
by Lauren C. Moye
Little star shining oh so bright
As you spread rays of light
– Freely given without conceit –
To everyone you meet.
My star, what knowledge can you give
So that I, too, might live
Alleviating others’ trials
With just a simple smile?
Little star shining oh so bright,
Don’t rush into the night!
I want you near so don’t go far.
Please stay with me, my star,
For I am yours and you are mine.
In future days you’ll shine
As you find your place in the sky,
But that time is not nigh.
Until that day comes, I’ll treasure
This time without measure.
My star, Mama’s love is forever
And cannot be severed.
